Ravindra Jadeja Joins Ravi Ashwin as Number One Test Bowler – Clinical 75 run turnaround victory for Indians at Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore will be remembered and celebrated for many days. The star bowler in 1st innings of India vs Australia 2nd Test, Ravindra Jadeja has joined his spin partner Ravichandran Ashwin as the Number 1 bowler in Test cricket.
For the first time in the history of cricket, number 1 spot is shared by two spinners. Both are tied at 892 points in ICC Rankings. Cricket witnessed the same scenario in April 2008 when No. 1 spot was shared by South African pace bowler Dale Steyn and Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralidaran.

Ravindra Jadeja was the pick of the bowlers in 2nd Test at Bangalore. His 6/63 in 1st Innings was one of the reasons for India’s victory versus Aussies. He also showed some promising efforts in Pune by picking 5 wickets. Ravi Ashwin with his magical spell on Tuesday afternoon has maintained his number 1 position in Test cricket.
Nathon Lyon’s 8 wicket haul was one of finest bowling efforts on Indian soil. This magical effort has lifted Lyon two places to 16th rank. His spin partner O’Keffee and Indian fast bowler Umesh Yadav also gained some points to find themselves at career-best 28th and 29th rank.
ICC Batsmen Rankings
India’s skipper Virat Kohli has conceded the ICC Ranking 2nd spot to England’s Joe Root. Virat managed to score only 40 runs in last two test matches which has resulted in dropping ICC Ranking points. Joe Root is now one point ahead of Indian Skipper Virat Kohli with 848 points. Cheteshwar Pujara, star of second innings with his brilliant knock of 92 has earned five spots to sixth rank while Ajinkya Rahane finds himself at 15th rank. Man of the match in 2nd Test, KL Rahul with his 90 and 51 has gained 23 places to 23rd rank in ICC Batsmen Test Ranking. Steve Smith still claims the Number 1 position.
